Afloat

I’ve been born – afloat on a houseboat on the Amsterdam canals

Comfortable welcomed with love to be adrift
Into my mothers arms received as a gift

For my first completed cycle I was given a ball
Round and colorful – I already realized that that was all

Yet, all that – is easier said than maintained
In less than a decade I became the man our ship
Trying to keep us together and balance a grip

I was Unable, untamable, to small – too young
Development imperative cannot be wrong

For everyone and everything I opened my eyes
Came down to my heart felt desire – to growing the wise

To Search for my place proven difficult to land
Roaming my feet to were I currently stand

Passionate with ideals to change stuff around, perspectives of future
On the inside – Depressing motivations were the only things I found

See, I studied international – business and management and such, (but to me)
Our world seemed to spin upside down just a bit too much

And so I returned to the place that first offered me a basis
Started preaching to others about what the urgent case is

But how could I’ve ever clearly been heard
When all I was at the time – was a high-flying bird

Then came more solidity, more inclusive of thought
More heart and more grounding in all that I brought

More looking at myself as being the starting point
More flexible and agile like the turning of a joint

Slowly more successful in increasing my sway
Learning how to communicate in a slightly different way

Having grown a little now I could reach upon a higher shelf
Facilitating small steps most importantly for myself

Give another hand and present the obvious present, like
Something to rely back to at the moment we collectively transcend

We are in essence all-in-all able to sustain
If just we can see – that we have everything to gain

Loving ourselves alike one big family living inside the earth
Replenishing constant refinement like the air we breathe at birth

Till death do us part, no matter, no energy is ever lost
Moving forward together, no matter how great the cost.

Spread the Love

In my experience, our ability to deal with complex challenges, create positive change in any area of life, and contribute to a sustainable impact in the world around us, requires an authentic kind of self-leadership that starts with getting clear where you’ve been, where you are now, what really matters to you, where you really want to go or get, and especially how you will be and grow as a person along the way.
