Inflamed Flight

Whenever I hear the sound of waves rolling by my windows
I am taken aback to the great silence, of
sitting still in my tree for hours
watching out over my floating home
watching into the distance, where
my sorrows of the fading sun
color the horizon a warm reddish purple

it feels like
the waverange of my ship is
anchored in the frequency of its course
it feels like
I’m letting go of this rope, that
used to tie my vessel to the shore
to feel – the current flowing to my core
and embrace the washing of waves, and
winds coming in from all four
to settle in a realm to let go – and go for a swim
move along with the tide without a harbor in sight

only one porthole ahead
shines a skylight on my way to receive

given guidance and allowance
to hold the rudder lightly, and
allow every dent and bend in the ocean
to shift my motion, and
with every wave flooding and tainting my vision
I can allow more tears to roll into a cry
to let go into remembering a silent tale, told
about a hero able to fly

breathing in a liquid air I awake to my senses, and hear
the familiar sound of waves rolling by
slowly shaping my observation of the silence in
between abandoning ship, and being
fully connected to every drop
every drip into my beloved shelter
cherishing the flow to remember to transform
my essence as being, one elemental part of the storm

a new story is being written and spoken aloud in the heat –
of hardships sailing in the sky
to remember to be a hero nowhere
inflames the freedom to fly

In my experience, our ability to deal with complex challenges, create positive change in any area of life, and contribute to a sustainable impact in the world around us, requires an authentic kind of self-leadership that starts with getting clear where you’ve been, where you are now, what really matters to you, where you really want to go or get, and especially how you will be and grow as a person along the way.
